    Four years ago I responded to the call to go into ministry.
After years of preparation, prayer, fasting, and working in the San Francisco community I had the opportunity to go on my first mission’s trip to Nicaragua in Summer of 2010. During the 10-day trip, we visited churches, the inner city of Managua as well as small villages with the most extreme poverty. We ministered to children and adults through song, dance, drama, puppetry and preaching the word. We also gave money and a week’s worth of food to over 1,000 families. 
My life was forever changed.
    For the past six months I have been interning at Glad Tidings Discipleship Institute, a year-long ministerial internship program.  This program placed me in full time ministry work,  beginnignthe training for me to become a missionary within the next few years.

    My dream is to help women in extremely impoverished countries.  My goal is to partner with others to help create sustainable economies, build water wells, schools, and bring support to their churches. I firmly believe that the Church is here to feed the needs of the mind, body and soul.  I want to be able to train others to teach women the skills to bring funding into their community.  I don’t want to bring an American Ideal of capitalism into a foreign country, but rather reach people through their own culture and language. Culturally centered education and economy.  My dream is big, and for me to succeed in this effort I will need your help. I need your help to meet my own personal needs, and to raise funds for this year’s missions trip to Monrovia, Liberia.

Monrovia Liberia

This is our destination city with the Convoy of Hope that we are going to in August.

This is what we would be doing in Monrovia and surrounding areas:

helping micro businesses flourish by giving them the tools that they need to get started
food distribution
drama
singing
puppetry  just to name a few things.
This is much more than just going on a trip half way across the world.
This is to reach people for the Lord, this trip has been months in the making and is still in the process of moving. What I need from you is the support to do so.
I can write this letter with a different heart because I have been to Managua, Nicaragua and saw lives changed through hands who help and those who love the Lord. This is your chance to change the world.

When your child goes off to college, your responsibilities as a parent don't end there. College can be a difficult transition, even for the most mature and well adjusted 18-year-old. In addition to talking to your child regularly, sending care packages is also a must. Depending on the needs of your child, care packages can contain an array of items. A care package should show your child you care, but also contain items that they want and need. Talk to your child and get input before sending the care package.

How to make a care package with food

The most common type of care package consists of food. While a lot of colleges offer meal tickets for cafeteria food, that’s not always sufficient. Students keep odd hours and need snacks on hand at all times. Fast food, in addition to being unhealthy, can also be costly – especially for college students. That’s where food related care packages come into play.

When sending food care packages, make sure that everything you send is non-perishable. Also take into account how much space your child has to store the items and whether or not your child has a stove, oven or microwave at their disposal.

Best foods for a college care package

Here is a list to get you started:

• Bottled water
• Candy bars
• Gum
• Canned soups
• Cereal and oatmeal
• Granola bars
• Chips
• Brownie mix
• Rice crispie treats
• Homemade cookies

When your child is off at college, fighting off germs will remain a constant struggle. Dorms are notoriously dangerous breeding grounds for all types of nasty bacteria, molds and viruses. Keeping everything as clean and sterile as possible is the best way to avoid getting sick.

Other college care package ideas:

A good idea is to send the care package in a plastic container. The plastic container can be re-used by your child while at college to separate clothes, school books or any other number of things. Make sure that all fragile items are packed securely and that you clearly label the container.

No matter which kind of care package you are sending, make sure to add a personal touch. Include a hand written note, pictures of the family, homemade cookies and anything else that will make your child feel loved and remain motivated to do well at college.

You ladies are a true help to me and a joy to my heart. Two months ago,  I entered a year-long internship run by my home church, Glad Tidings, which places me in full-time ministry work. I am training to become a missionary. I’m also finishing my last year in  bible school with Berean School of The Bible and in the internship we will be doing multitudes of tasks from office work, to working physical labor to praying for people and ministering to them by youth group and taking people out to lunch and coffee and connecting with them.
